For one day, the Château de Maulnes opens its doors to artists and the curious for an immersion in the heart of creation. In the exceptional setting of this unique Renaissance monument, amateur and experienced painters will set up their easels in the gardens and around the château, capturing the light, shapes, and soul of the place. Visitors will be able to stroll among the works in progress, interact with the artists, and rediscover Maulnes from a new perspective, filled with color and emotion.

On the program:

• Painters in action! (interior and exterior)

• Workshops for children aged 7 to 13 - 45 minutes - at 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Materials included.

Hours : Saturday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Prices :

• Free for painters: registration via an online form

• Regular rates for visitors (€9 Adult | €7 Reduced | €6 Child 6-18 years old without workshop)

• Painting workshop for children aged 7 to 13: €18, materials and admission included. Reservations required.

Following the success of previous editions, the Night of Shooting Stars is now held over two days!

• At the end of the day: planetarium, solar observation, presentation of observation equipment.
• In the evening from 9 p.m.: observation of the stars and the planetarium.

Picnics, refreshments and food trucks are available on site.

An evening dedicated to astronomy and contemplation of the sky

With its breathtaking view from the Butte de Maulnes, Maulnes is the perfect place for quality stargazing. As night falls, come look up at the constellations, planets, and perhaps even rare astronomical phenomena. This privileged location allows you to discover the sky in all its splendor, far from the artificial lights of big cities.

A journey to the heart of the stars with experts

During the evening, Thibaud Marec, an astronomy expert from the society Du ciel et des hommes (Sky and Men), will guide you through the sky. He will share his knowledge with you, explaining the mysteries of the stars, planets, and constellations. You will be able to ask all your questions and learn more about the fascinating universe that surrounds us.

An open-air planetarium for young and old

To make this evening even more magical, an open-air planetarium will be installed for young and old. You can observe celestial objects using professional telescopes and explore the sky in a fun and educational way. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy an educational and fun experience while appreciating the beauty of the night sky.

The castle is open until nightfall

The castle will remain open until nightfall, allowing you to discover its history and enjoy a stroll through its grounds before your stargazing session. You can also enjoy the magical atmosphere of this historic site while preparing for an unforgettable evening of astronomy.

An unforgettable evening at the Château de Maulnes!
Come enjoy an open-air rock concert, followed by a magnificent fireworks display illuminating the castle!
Doors open at 7 p.m., with a rock concert beginning at 8 p.m. At 11 p.m., a spectacular fireworks display will close the evening.

On site, a refreshment bar and food trucks will be available for you to eat.
Access to the castle is via the lower parking lot in the forest. Cars are not permitted to access the castle.

This price does not include a visit to the castle.

Two years ago now, we were sharing a few drinks in the evening with Pierre (the manager of the Château de Maulnes) just before sunset, a downpour arrived and generated a magnificent rainbow.

It was at this point that I told Pierre that we shouldn't keep these magical moments just for ourselves; we had to open them up to the public. And that's how "Sunsets at the Castle" were born!

This year, the Château de Maulnes is renewing its aperitif evenings – sunsets. They will take place every Friday during the summer, starting at 7 p.m.

From Friday, July 4, the castle will be closed from 7 p.m., only the exterior areas will be freely accessible.

If you want to visit it, the last entry is at 6:15 p.m.

​

Every evening, as in 2024, producers will come to present their specialties!
